Ban Ki-moon: The Positive Action of Chinese Enterprises like CNBM Tackling the Climate Change Is Impressive

On June 18, Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon held a symposium with CEOs of Chinese member enterprises of The United Nations Global Compact in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, themed with “Concerns about the Climate, Promoting the Development of Low-carbon Economy”. In consideration of CNBM’s remarkable contribution in the environmental protection, Chairman Song Zhiping was invited to attend the symposium and made a speech.
Chairman Song Zhiping expressed that CNBM respected Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon’s advocacy and endeavor on the environmental protection, integrated the concept of the sustainable development into corporate development strategy, and established a sustainable development pattern with industrial characteristics on basis of appeals of the interested parties. CNBM utilizes the resources efficiently to reduce emission, reduce the environmental load, and advocate the development road of “minimization” of China’s cement industry, implements the 3-new strategy of “New Building Material, New House, New Energy Material”, and provides product support of the sustainable development. CNBM participated in international action actively to tackle the climate change, and took the lead in launching the manifesto of “Low-carbon Safety and Environmental Protection Responsibility”, which triggered wide response in the industry. In the end, he expressed that CNBM is expected to be a full member of The United Nations Global Compact.
Ban Ki-moon listened to the speeches of the representatives carefully and made a speech. He expressed that the positive action of Chinese enterprises like CNBM in tackling climate change is impressive; additionally, he spoke highly of Chinese enterprise leaders’ responsibility and passion in tackling the climate change, and affirmed these enterprises’ remarkable contribution in promoting full economic and social sustainable development. Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon expressed that the environmental issues such as tackling the climate change are urgent affairs of globally sustainable development. The enterprises play important roles in participating in major agendas of the United Nations, such as tackling the climate change.
